I have a monthly(ish) mailing list that you can join by emailing me at boosterhooch at gmail dot com. Here is an archive of the mailouts I have sent out so far.

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for signing up/staying signed up. Welcome to another round up of events, releases/radio shows, side hustles, cultural things, and then your complimentary demo track at the end from the Extended Boosterhooch Universe. Hope everyone has been enjoying spring :)

EVENTS Before I fire into whatever upcoming gigs I have, I've got to mention some really nice times I had since my last mailout. Played at the inaugural Skinny Dipping with Aircode - Alexis got some incredible photos at EXIT. Then earlier this month I did a sort of accidental tour of Greater Manchester (covering Levenshulme [Mutualism], Salford [The Trilogy Tapes], and Stockport [Regional Bears]). Had a great silly weekend making friends and devastating my sleep cycle. DJing at The White Hotel was really really fun - I wrote an embarrassingly effusive blog post about it and if it was recorded it might get released (if it holds up the morning after).
May 2nd No Music No Life
Little 10pm bar gig for the NMNL crew who are opening the club after as well as the Apollo Bar

May 15th DIY Symposium #3
Have been really really enjoying these - March and April's were really interesting and I like to think galvanising! This one features people involved in DIY publishing/archiving/coding (and also me playing live because I owe it to Help Musicians to do so)

May 17th Don't Forget To EXIT
Playing live in support of some really big guns here. Am such a fan of EXIT's in house live gig programming

May 21st PremRock
Supporting PremRock at the Old Hairdressers for a Wednesday gig !

May 25th Matmos
And then Matmos at EXIT for a Sunday gig ! Sorry if you didn't want to see me play live in May because I am afraid it's inescapable (but it is different every time I promise)

May 29th Events Research Programme
Back at the Old Hairdressers! Line up coming May 1st :)
June 11th Night School: Troth
Supporting Troth at the Hairdresser's with Laurie and Murray on the bill too !

June 20th Events Research Programme: RAT CAPITAL
Genuinely just read a headline about Glasgow being named the "Rat Capital" of Scotland and went a bit nuts and had conceptualised a whole club night around it within minutes. Had fun designing the poster

RELEASES/RADIO SHOWS
- Guested on Mutualism's NTS show last month. Just played new things from mostly friends in Scotland to encourage myself to spend some money supporting people on bandcamp and it went down really well - even got NTS pick which was nice - I did a live radio show on the last day of this year's Radiophrenia festival entitled Response to Annie Mac's Tweet (2018). "Annie Mac can't see the sunset as she broadcasts so asks listeners to describe theirs. This live radio broadcast describes the conditions the broadcaster finds themselves in and asks for descriptions in return from the broadcastees." was the blurb. I just asked questions on my instagram stories about where people were and what the could see and hear and smell - had so many nice answers from people from Leith to Vietnam. - Keen to get some more tunes out soon, have a week off work in May where I might try to enter the freakzone for some more tape releases later this year.
SIDE HUSTLES/HOBBIES Communal Leisure continues to tick on in the background, super nice to see it so populated all the time (let me know if you would like a login to add your DIY events!). I need to be briefed on what it will entail but I have gleefully agreed this summer to be part of the Future Music Infrastructure Group's Arts and Environment Research Group (there's truly nothing I love more than a clunky verbose organisational name) I made a really delicious rhubarb+ginger+star anise jam that I eat every day Ran my fastest ever 5k (not very fast but breaking that 30 mins felt spiritually important) My most beloved hobby is scrolling Rightmove and this gaff outside Oban is a current fave - alternatively this insane flat that's just down the road from most of you reading this email (!!!) CULTURAL THINGS I read Mari Kondo's book after finding it on top of a bin on Vicky Road and it was the most unhinged thing I've ever come across. The descriptions on how to fold incessantly anthropomorphised socks sprawled over three pages - I was transfixed I'm also reading a couple of books a friend got for my birthday from Low Tech magazine which are so so so so good and very my vibe Counterflows highlight was definitely Yan Jun at Maryhill Central Community halls Beau Wanzer played some really really fun tunes at a gig I played at at EXIT - if anyone knows an industrial/post punk tune that goes like HEY ACID GIRLS (scuzzy guitar riff) HEY ACID ____ (scuzzy guitar riff) I will buy you a pint or alcohol free alternative I also enjoyed Germ Lattice at The Old Hairdressers and Russell Walker at the gig I played in Stockport And when I was in Manchester I went to Vinyl Exchange as a treat and bought this, this, this, and a Turkish/German hardcore punk 7 inch that I can't remember the name of right now. GOSSIP/INTRIGUE/BAD DEMOS Nice of you to have read the whole way through and as per here's your bad demo reward. It's the minute long thing I made to soundtrack the Bank Street Media Labs piece but I like all the little components of it I love hearing back from people if you feel like replying ! Le grĂ¡, Han x
